One of the challenges in scribing plastic is to get a clean etched circle or oval shape. Our Micro Template Scriber is designed to do this task with ease.
The hardened tool-steel tip is ground specifically for use with a template, so it glides easily around any shape, especially circular and oval ones. The ergonomically
formed handle fits comfortably in your hand. It allows your to apply even pressure when moving our scriber around the shapes in the template. To use, make sure you hold the
tool perpendicular to the surface in all axis and initially apply very light pressure as you follow the template's shape. Gradually increase pressure as the etched line becomes
more pronounced. Also, you can use this scriber for straight lines. The key here is to hold the scriber so it angles slightly into the straight edge when pulling or pushing to form
the straight line.
UMM07 UMM™ MICRO TEMPLATE SCRIBER - Hints
A. Secure the template fast to the surface you wish to scribe.
B. Make sure the MICRO TEMPLATE SCRIBER is perpendicular to the surface - this step is very important.
C. Position the scriber up against the edge of the template with very light pressure.
D. Keeping the pressure light and move the scriber around the template two or three times.
E. As you feel the groove forming, increase the pressure to made a deeper line.
F. When you're satisfied with the shape, you can sand the area in case any burrs have formed.
Also, once cleaned with water and a brush, apply a light coat of thin liquid glue over the shape
to clean and smooth the etched groove.
