John Vojtech is a fine scale modeling veteran and owner of UMM-USA (Unique Master Models) and SCALE SPOKES. He is an active member of the International Plastic Modelers’ Society, USA Branch (IPMS/USA) and belongs to several local IPMS chapters including: IPMS/Richard I. Bong Chapter (Milwaukee, Wisconsin), IPMS/Lakes Region Scale Modelers(Crystal Lake, Illinois), and IPMS/Butch O’Hare (Downers Grove, Illinois). He is also a member of the Armor Modeling Preservation Society (AMPS) of Illinois.John and his family currently live in Deerfield, Illinois, just outside Chicago. Born near Prague in the Czech Republic, John learned about modeling from his father.This passion for modeling led him to later teach modeling theory and practice at the elementary, middle, and high school levels. John has been building beautiful scale models for nearly 40 years. His models display an amazing attention to detail and use the highest quality materials to achieve unbelievable authenticity and realism. The outstanding craftsmanship and detail in all his models have earned him numerous awards and widespread appreciation and respect for his work. What has long been a hobby is now his profession. Drawing upon his success, John has expanded into new fields by offering consulting services, seminars, and exhibitions. He continues to teach modeling theory and practice to the younger generation interested inmodeling. In addition, his services currently include the design and production of master parts, casting of original master molds, photo-etched masks, decals, and building made-to-order models for customers.

We also have another member with the UMM-USA team. Phil Pignataro, a veteran USAF and airline pilot, has been actively working with John since 1997. He is a life-long aircraft modeler and currently writes reviews for Fine Scale Modeler magazine. As a member of IPMS/USA, Phil is the President of IPMS/Lakes Region Scale Modelers (Crystal Lake, IL) and belongs to the IPMS/Richard I. Bong Chapter in Milwaukee, WI.
Joel Gewirtz, a US Army vet, also provides his expertise to UMM-USA. An avid small scale armor and aircraft modeler, Joel is an AMPS and IPMS member. As a member of IPMS Joel is a past President of Flight 19 IPMS/Ft Lauderdale Florida. Besides his modeling skills, Joel brings advertising and sales knowledge to our endeavor. He also keeps all of us smiling.
