MN038 UMM™ 3D Ultra Thin LP scriber

I love this scriber. It is everything described by UMM-USA, but it has a couple of neat surprises. First off, it's not just one scriber. The cutter is formed from one piece of .020 steel, with the "ultra thin" part ground down to the same thickness of the JLC saw blade. That's what's advertised. What's not advertised is that the other end is ground into a V shape, so you can scribe .005" panel lines with one side or you can scribe a fine V-shaped panel line with the other. With the .005" ground end, you can also neatly scribe all the way through panel lines on most kits (or any kit whose "skin" is up to .090" thick). Because of its simple construction, you can easily do something else: control the depth of your panel lines. If you want a panel line with a uniform depth of .010", just lay the handle on a piece of .010" sheet styrene with the cutter on your tabletop, then screw down the screws so just .010" of the cutter sticks out below the handle. Also because of its simple design, you can adjust the angle of the scriber to get very precise cuts or very aggressive cuts. This tool is enough of a bargain, too, that it's worth having even if you don't use it much. I've only had mine a couple of week, but after getting used to it, it has already gone to work on my favorite Eduard kit with very nice results.
